YANACOCHA
YANACOCHA, BEEF CATTLE PRODUCTION PROJECT YANACOCHA, FEBRUARY 2024
Yanacocha is an organization located in the province of Cotopaxi. They have demonstrated responsibility for compliance in the payment of principal and interest and attendance at meetings. The organization is made up of 35 families that in the 2023-2024 project received $300 each, resources that were invested in the production of cattle for meat.
We can mention that according to the record; A woman buys the bull for an average of $500 ($200 contribution from the family) and after the maintenance and fattening process, she can sell it for an average of $1,000
For the 2024-2025 project, FEDICE will increase the reimbursable fund per family by $100, that is, each family will receive $400. FEDICE will invest $14,000, which will generate an economic return of $2,100 for the year that the community manages the resource.

35 beneficiary families trained in livestock, administrative-accounting issues; to guarantee the production and economic management of the project.
-
Monitoring and evaluation is carried out by FEDICE on the 35 families.
-
35 families will increase the economic fund
PROJECT JUSTIFICATION:
The implementation of this project is justified for the following reasons:
-
The organization shows solidarity and work among its family members
-
The 35 companies have their own fund of $ 2,000 (two thousand dollars) to continue working with the vision of a savings and credit fund.
-
The 35 families know and put into practice the knowledge about animal management.
ACHIEVEMENTS OF THIS PROJECT
-
We created an organization of 35 families that works to find real solutions to problems of access to financing and low levels of animal productivity.
-
We generate a culture of monthly savings in families as a financing alternative.
-
We established an administrative management system for the operation of the organization through which participants can present their needs and find family solutions.
-
We started a process of genetic improvement of the animals that the families own. This is supported by two axes: 1. Monthly training focused on the correct maintenance and care of the animals, and 2. Financing for the purchase of animals whose productive characteristics are better than those present in the community.
PLANS FOR THE FUTURE OF THIS PROJECT
We will carry out training in: Administrative management, leadership and financial education. The objective is that the families that make up the organization are capable of managing projects at the family and organizational level.
Yanacocha will be integrated into the accounting network that FEDICE is designing for the communities with which FEDICE works. This network will allow accurate, reliable, timely information for decision making.
