The community of Luz de America is located to the northwest of the city of Latacunga in the Cotopaxi province. FEDICE works with 17 families here. In addition, of business in sales of animals and agricultural production, some people are drivers and work in domestic chores. However many people here suffer from unemployment. Most families do not have enough income for day to day costs, let alone save. As a remedy, FEDICE is working on a domestic animal project with includes raising pigs and guinea pigs. FEDICE aids Luz de America in animal selection and care to improve chances of receiving maximum profit. Management of these animals will help families generate income, increasing overall quality of life.
