“PEACE, DEVELOPMENT AND EQUALITY”, LET'S MAKE IT BIG
PROJECT FOR THE STRENGTHENING OF FAMILY MICRO PROJECTS
Location
Communicated: Pusir Grande
Parish: Saint Vincent de Pusir
Canton: Bolivar
Province: Carchi
2. Beneficiaries: 34 families
3. Background
Since 2013, 8 projects have been executed for a value of $160,845.00; these funds have been invested in financing family micro-projects (agricultural and commercial). The resources belong to the BRIDGING CULTURES Foundation, Texas, USA. The reimbursable fund per family has been increasing up to 420% since 2013, going from $200 to $840 this year. The increase in the fund is the result of the re-investment of the interest that is made each year.
On the other hand, the number of beneficiaries in these 10 years of work decreased from 50 to 34. The main reasons for this situation are: 1. Non-compliance in the payment of the reimbursable fund, 2. Non-attendance at meetings, training and community activities, and 3. Voluntary withdrawal.
The following table shows the growth of capital delivered in Pusir Grande.

4. Objectives
General objective
Guarantee the continuity of the production chain of the different family micro-projects of the women members of the organization.
Specific objectives
Provide a refundable fund for each family in the group.
Provide training in activities of local interest.
Monitor and evaluate the results achieved by the project.
5. Execution
The activities to be carried out are as follows:
Delivery of resources: Each family receives $840 to invest in their productions. They must pay 12% annual interest on the capital ($100.80 dollars). At the end of the project, each family will end up paying $940.80. The recovery is planned in 4 dividends of $235.20 each (capital and interest) every quarter.
In the second month, a review of family investments is planned. At this stage, purchases and expenses made by each family are verified. Visits are made to each property or business. The tour is expected to take 2 days.
From the third month to the 10th month, there will be workshops on three topics: 1. Knitting, 2. Embroidery, and 3. Jewelry. Each topic has a duration of three classes, one per month, each class lasts 3 hours. These trainings will be taught by Mrs. Margarita Fonte. In the 11th month, we will have an open house where the Pusir companions will exhibit the works they have learned to make in the workshops.
Finally, in the 12th month, we will proceed to evaluate the results achieved by the project. To do this, we will apply a participatory evaluation. The main parameters to be analyzed are: 1. Payment of reimbursable funds and interest, 2. Attendance at training sessions, 3. Compliance with activities proposed in the schedule, and 4. Decision making.
6. Financing
For this year, it is estimated that 36% of the project's cost will be provided by FEDICE/BRIDGING CULTURES. The funds are distributed for the purchase of seeds, fertilizers, raw materials, and merchandise ($28,560), $1,600 for the embroidery, weaving, and jewelry workshops, and $3,766.25 for administration, monitoring, and evaluation activities that will be carried out by the FEDICE team.
The organization “Peace, Development and Equality” finances 64% ($59,867.20). This amount corresponds to: agricultural work, purchase of inputs, seeds that are necessary for the first production cycle ($56,440.00). Families will pay $3,427.20 as a contribution for administrative and operational expenses generated by the execution of the project.

The houses in Pusir Grande are built with blocks and a mixture of sand and mud rather than cement, which is why it is already melting only 15 years after construction. In addition, this fact means that it would be easy for the houses to collapse. Another problem for the community is that many do not wear shoes, causing them to contract infections.
We made a commitment with them that they are responsible for demolishing and clearing the land in minga, before the master comes. Also, they need to start looking for a place where they can stay during the construction.

Casa de Rocio:
Aspectos peligrosos/dañosos de la casa:
-
